smart and talented women rarely realize that one of the toughest hurdles they'll
have to overcome to be successful lies within. Compared with our male
colleagues, we judge our own abilities not only more harshly but fundamentally
differently.
Sara and I were having a similar discussion yesterday as we studied our personality profiles as part of the Leadership Core Curriculum course we're taking. I know I'm hard and easily frustrated with myself when learning new skills and completing complex projects. If things don't come easily to me, I think I've got some sort of mental deficiency. Hmmm…I'm definitely going to put some thought into this "Bright Girls" study and see what new ways of understanding myself come to light.
