I'm motivated. Most folks are when it comes to something about which they're passionate. The mandate below that popped out of the old in box is, at its core, common sense stuff. I can fall in line with the message. However, issues of fit-form-functionality, as I like to say, also need attention. For someone such as myself, who is still searching for her niche, I can probably tack on a couple more bullet points on the employee expectation list. I'm striving to perform my daily duties the best that I can. But is the job working for me? What are your opinions on the subject of workplace motivation?
Based on the 2010 results we have one focus area this year and that is to improve motivation.
We expect you as a manager to:
- Set clear goals and clarify expectations by
communicating a clear direction, and defining priorities
for your team. - Provide feedback and coaching to support your team
in performing at their best. - Help your team members decide on a personal
development plan with activities for the future. - Encourage new ideas and be open to a creative
work environment. - Communicate and involve your team members in
decisions and actions taken by the work group.
We expect you as an employee to:
- Stay up-to-date and improve your skills. Constant
learning is vital. Keep track of what is going on in the
business environment. - Listen to ideas. We work and win as a team. Make sure
you are open to everyone’s suggestions. - Ask for priorities and clarifications. If something is
unclear, do your best to get the information you need. - Be open to change. To remain No. 1 in the new business
environment, we must move fast and be flexible. - Provide clear and constructive feedback to your colleagues.
It will help us learn and develop.
