Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it. Curiosity killed the cat? I don’t know about that one. It’s good to have a sense of wonder and to be adventurous. But here’s one that’s true, and the reason why I won’t be driving to the office anymore. Life Is Short. Since I’m leaving Eville, they asked me to color in some bubbles and write a sentence or two about my time spent with them. Here are my cubicle musings that will moulder in my personnel file forever.

What, if anything, did you find to be least satisfying about working at [Theresa’s former place of employment]?

The size of the company. I prefer working for smaller, entrepreneurial companies where my input and feedback is listened to, regarded, and acted upon. This can take place organically in a company of 50 people or less. For companies the size of Eville, I do not have that direct contact with ownership that will help develop the success of the business. Corporate culture is a difficult process to navigate. For people like me, who like to “color outside of the lines,” Eville was a difficult adjustment after coming from my previous employer. It has been an adjustment that, ultimately, I could not fully reconcile.

Why would you not recommend Eville as a place to work?

The people I know are either currently riding their own corporate hamster wheel and are looking to get off, or they are people who are doing what they want in life and never had to/never will need to engage in corporate culture.

If you have found another job we would like to know with what company.

I am taking at least one year off to write. I have no plans on looking for full-time employment at present.
