Semi-Daily Scribbles

Am I bucking trends? Since I've never cottoned to fashion, I can't say for sure. However, this Gen X-er isn't disillusioned, and I decline all invitations to Pity Parties. Perhaps my outlook is due to the fact I can laugh about Social Security benefits going the way of the dodo just as I'll be needing them. Mind you, that sad fact isn't funny at all. I would just rather laugh than cry. I don't dwell on being old and penniless. The present is interesting enough, and I do my best to stretch out every nano-second.

I don't harbor any animosity toward the Y's and Millennials, either. Kind, honest, creative, hard working folks come in all ages. The younger generation is hope, and hope is contagious. I like the energy young people bring to problem solving. Oftentimes, it's a kid who sees a solution in simple, everyday things. The same everyday things I may tend to ignore. It's the dreaded Been There, Done That Syndrome which sucks one dry of curiosity. Stay curious, my friends. Curiosity is the salve to stave off complacency, and complacency will strip the shine off anyone.
