Let's discuss this recurring theme of trying on life for size and not clinging to any particular outcome:
"The only approach that's working right now is to show up. Routines are my besties for the time being. It feels like I'm barely lifting a pinky, but I see the tall waves crashing toward me. That ripple in a pond; the butterfly-wings-thing reaching the farthest shore.
I must be the light, all right? So I can navigate in the tight, murky places? I have to release that with which I have no creative relationship. Each moment is a work of art. I can't force outcomes any more than I can tell you to jump on my cloud. Your red wagon ought to be paradise enough."

Darkness has fallen over a small town, and only the barn owl out for a moonlight snack can view the 360° from its perch in a Doug fir. With a half revolution of its snowy head, that old hooter sees a boy hunch his shoulders; sees a boy crouch. The boy stands up straight, then bends at the waist, twists his torso, stomps his feet. A boy holds a big stick with both fists and brings it down hard toward the ground. The forest floor writhes as the quiet night screams a name over and over and over again. -
Shaped like an egg with pretzels for legs, Gary is built to duel with The Shadow. Easy work for such a well-rounded fellow. But stick 'im in the light and he'll give you a fright by telling your truth straight to your face. Gary's all garters and lace, but he is The Strong Man we all hope falls on the table, a sign that we are able to save ourselves from this cell of deceit. Just like the receipt that falls from Gary's pocket as he stuffs another curl in his Grandma's locket, words scrawled on the back of a greasy scrap can change one's look on life:a knave to fashion / diet culture eats its own / the truth about curves
( … and it's not really true what The Influencers say … that one can only put eggs in an egg carton?)
